The next chapter of the Power franchise is set to premiere this July. The show promised as many as five spin-offs and has already found success with ‘Power Book II: Ghost‘ starring original cast member Michael Rainey Jr. The new series, ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ will premiere in July on Starz.
Mekai Curtis will star as a young Kanan Stark, growing up in Southside Jamaica, Queens. The character of Kanan originally came on the scene in ‘Power‘ played by 50 Cent. Mekai is a relative new face, but he has found success as a voice actor. Omar Epps, Quincy Brown, Joey Bada$$ and more will also appear in ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’.
The new series begins with us following Kanan at around 15 years old. For long time viewers, that is a few years before he even meets Tommy and Ghost. So we get a look into his childhood and what made him the villain that he was in the original series. The new series will also introduce viewers to a young Jukebox, who was originally played by Anika Noni Rose.
