R&B singer Tyrese took to social media to announce that he is returning to music this year to release his first album in almost 7 years.  The announcement of Tyrese in album mode was welcome news for fans who have loved Tyrese’s music for decades.

The singer released his sixth album Black Rose back in 2015 after a months long campaign announcing that it would be his final album.  A grown R&B album was a huge deal for the singer at the time and it accomplished what he wanted with a number one album on the Billboard 200 charts and 2 Grammy nominations.

Tyrese revealed he was in album mode with a video post on his instagram detailing how he was feeling about being back in the studio and where he was in his process.

Here’s what he had to say about being in album mode:

6 years of not doing music then stepping into this head space and putting these vulnerabilities back on the main stage feels like this….. I appreciate acting and movies but this music thing is a SOUL SNATCHER this is why I don’t do music cause I respect this place and space so much…..

This is what my mind and heart feels like right now while working on an album….. I’ve told people for the last 6 years that BLACK ROSE was my last offering….. I’ve had a studio in my house in the AtL for 5 years and have never been motivated or inspired to record or do music….. This has been triggering…. These songs, these topics, this music, these lyrics, these melodies I am paused to the core cause I didn’t realize how many pains and traumas from my divorce I pushed to the back of my mind……. We left 2022 and we’ve been in the year 1968 for a month…. Tonight I’m at a club called Studio54 the address is 54th Street in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. sitting to my left is Donnie Hathwaite and Marvin Gaye to my right is Teddy Pendergrass and Gamble and Huff I will see you guys in 2022 soon I’m here in the year 1968 and the cocaine, prostitution is flying, the drinks are endless and there is no such this as social media and we are living it UP to the fucking fullest….. See y’all soon…….. #DeepDeepInAlbumMode
