The authorized SWV biopic has officially been picked up by Lifetime.
According to exclusive reports from TheJasmineBrand, after nearly five years in the making, the female supergroup’s life story is finally greenlit to be depicted on screen.
Although there aren’t many details surrounding the anticipated project, the popular network is said to be working on the script, which will seemingly follow the ladies’ rise to legendary stardom.
Currently, it’s unclear who the potential cast will be, but we do know that lead singer Coko previously mentioned the idea of Sevyn Streeter portraying her in the film.

We’re excited to see what’s in store for this major production. It’s definitely long overdue, seeing as though Coko, Lelee, and Taj are all icons that deserve every single one of their flowers!
Though first commencing as a gospel group in 1988, you may have grown familiar with the best-selling R&B trio through their famed ’90s hits “Weak,” “Right Here,” “Anything,” “I’m So Into You,” or “You’re the One.”
However, that alone isn’t enough to document what they’ve done for the music culture as a whole.
Hailing from the fast streets of New York City, these Sisters with Voices, Cheryl “Coko” Gamble, Tamara “Taj” Johnson, and Leanne “Lelee” Lyons, not only paved the way for themselves but others as well. They are the blueprint. Forever the blueprint!
What a beautiful thing it will be to see what started it all.
