KJ Smith and Skyh Alvester Black Share Their Road to Riveting Romance

From Tyler Perry’s Sistas to real-life lovers, KJ Smith and Skyh Alvester Black have made the co-stars-to-couple story one we’d all like a chapter in.

Now known as Hollywood’s IT duo, the lovebirds met on the set of Tyler Perry’s hit BET series, Sistas. In the acclaimed comedy-drama, Smith portrays 1/4 of the leading ladies, Andrea “Andi” Barnes, and Black holds the recurring role of Jacobi, Sabrina Hollins’ (Novi Brown) love interest.

However, though bonded by the camera, Smith and Black made a connection beyond the script and behind the scenes!

Though quiet about their sparkling romance at first, it wasn’t long before the pair went public to their family, friends, and fans.

Judging by their social media accounts, what was once a kept secret is now a beautiful representation of Black love for the whole world to see–and we’re so here for it!

Having gotten engaged late last year, the notable actress and actor are steadfast in the fact that they’ve found a lifelong soulmate in each other.

The bride-and-groom to be recently opened up about their fiery relationship during a Refinery29’s Unbothered episode of Dear Black Love.

They let us in on the day they locked eyes, what led to them locking lips, and now… locking hearts!

“I didn’t realize how deep my love is for you,” Black said, speaking of his decision to propose to Smith. “Like, I know I’m completely, a hundred times a thousand percent in love, but it’s just like… I understood the definition of soulmate and soul tie.”

Smith also revealed that she felt like Black was the one right after their first official outing together.

“I told [my mama] after our first date. It was the best date of my life!” she gushed, reliving the moment she shared her feelings with her mother. “Yes, I called my mom and was like, ‘Ma! I’m getting married!'”
