P-Valley season 2 recently made its highly-awaited premiere on June 3rd, opening up the city of Chucalissa to the public again.

However, unfortunately, fans of the acclaimed Mississippi-based series are having mixed opinions about the show’s new direction.

This time around, picking up right where the plot left off, we see the Pynk crew struggling to navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic.

While most pride Katori Hall, the Starz phenomenon’s creator, on her way of making the fictional hit realistic, others are having a hard time enjoying her efforts by reliving (on-screen) what we’ve already suffered through for the past couple of years now.

Hall’s response:

The complaints seemingly arose after the season’s first episode, where Uncle Clifford and her girls are adjusting to the strip club’s temporary shutdown by running an exotic, drive-through car wash in the introduction scene.

Each of the cast members are masked up, depicting the reality of today’s norm.

The second episode brought more backlash with its brief exploration of Southern root work.

After Mercedes (Brandee Evans) takes a hard tumble from the pole, due to her already-wounded shoulder giving out, Autumn and Uncle Clifford takes her to Diamond (Tyler Lepley) for him to loan his “healing hands.”

From the writers:

To sum it up, viewers don’t necessarily feel like the show’s return has the oomph they were hoping for. But, for us here at Parlé Magazine, we’re genuinely loving the creative shift in the storyline!

Here’s what Twitter had to get off of their chest about P-Valley season 2…
