Irv Gotti is in a unique space in Hip-Hop where he can speak about Irv Gotti’s recent revelations about Ashanti.   He was in the spaces with Irv and Ashanti at the height of their career so he saw this back in the day for himself.  So when Fat Joe addresses Irv Gotti and Ashanti revelations, it means a bit more than just the average fan speaking up and speaking out about it.  But, Fat Joe just said what everyone else was thinking.

In his recent podcast episode, Fat Joe addressed the Irv Gotti and Ashanti revelations, particularly what Irv Gotti brought up on the most recent episode of Drink Champs.  As many people have highlighted, the Irv Gotti and Ashanti affair dates back 20 years and is old news.  In fact, many people still didn’t know that the pair actually were having sex and it was just an industry rumor, as Joe even acknowledges.  So getting confirmation now, all these years later, just seems excessive.  And it seems clear that Irv Gotti, who is married to another woman now, is still not over the relationship he had with the young singer, who at the time was at best, in her early 20s.

It screams creepy.

Here’s what else Fat Joe had to say about the Irv Gotti comments:

Joe also seemingly takes a shot at Ja Rule, something that fans on social media also did. Ja Rule doesn’t stand up for Ashanti during the interview, despite the great relationship that the duo have. Ja has maintained his distance from the drama involving his former boss and his biggest and best collaborator for all these years, so he seemingly continues to do the same during the Drink Champs interview, but its a bad look for him. Particularly with Gotti calling her out her name and taking a lot of unnecessary shots throughout the interview.

NOTE:  I watched the Drink Champs interview and I think it’s clear that Fat Joe and even a lot of the critics on social media really did not watch the interview.  For the most part, Irv is really just answering the questions he is asked and really trying to clear the air.  Additionally, he would have to explain why Ashanti was not involved in the documentary and I think he was really just trying to get ahead of that.

Plus, Ja rules says several times during the interview that he is “Switzerland,” meaning his is in the middle and doesn’t take sides.  But, he does offer several moments where he says he has tried to make things amicable between Gotti and Ashanti over the years.  And when Irv Gotti uses the word “bitch” a couple times too many, Ja jumps in and says, “you gotta stop calling them bitches…” At which point Gotti immediately stops and after a moment of reflection in the bathroom comes back to explain his use of the word.  Might not be enough of an explanation for some fans, but definitely a moment for him to clear the air a bit.

On his social media he also addressed the fact that his clip talking about Ashanti had gone viral. His caption notes:

Everyone loves to blow up the bullshit. When it’s just me answering questions that are asked. No one is still thinking about shit that was 20 fucking years ago. This is the shit I’m on. My new deal. With my guy @olivierchastan and his @thisisiconoclast Company. Which We raised to 300 Million. We did this interview like 2 months ago. And they held it for when the documentary is coming out. Which is Tuesday by the way. 9pm. With TALES to follow. Curious. Let’s see if y’all run with this story as much as the bullshit one. Lol. All good tho. On my way to set.
