The New Orleans rapper Mystikal now faces what could become a mandatory life sentence as a grand jury has reportedly indicted him for first-degree rape. According to the indictment on Wednesday, Michael Tyler, better known by his stage name Mystical will also be charged with illegal possession of drugs like heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana, and paraphernalia after drugs were found in his home.

Mystical was arrested by the police on Sunday, July 31st in response to the local hospital where the alleged victim reported to. The alleged victim claimed she was visiting the rapper’s home when he attacked and forcibly raped her. According to the arrest warrant, Mystikal seized the victim’s keys, holding her against her will. He eventually allowed the woman to leave after he had used her phone and bank account to send himself 150 USD.

Mystical’s attorney, Joel Pearce has claimed that his client is innocent. “It’s an indictment… It means nothing,” he said on Wednesday. “We look forward to our day in court.”

This isn’t the first time the rapper will be in trouble with the law. Mystical has previously faced sex crime allegations. He pleaded guilty in the early 2000s to sexual battery following his hairstylist’s sexual assault accusation. He reportedly became a lifetime registered sex offender in 2003 after his conviction for sexual assault and extortion.

The 51-year-old Grammy-nominated rapper is reportedly being held in Ascension Parish Prison without bail.

Social media is not taking it easy on the New Orleans-born rapper. Here are a few of the raging takes from Twitter.

Mystikal deserves nothing short of a life sentence

Plz never let Mystikal out of a jail cell ever again!!! Why does society keep giving rapists chances to do it again? One time should be enough for a rapist to never be allowed back in society! Why do we keep failing victims of sexual abuse?

As much as I like Mystikal as a rapper, he did 6 years in prison for sexual assaulting his hairstylist and became a registered sex offender when he got out. Then, he got accused of rape AGAIN in 2017 and NOW, he’s indicted on a rape charge. Gotta lock his ass up for good. https://t.co/n6pm8XtOSI

Funny how NOBODY is saying CANCEL #MYSTIKAL; even though he has been convicted of sexual assault, is a registered sex offender, was charged with “grape” in 2017 (dismissed) and is now again charged with “grape.” But y’all go off about #rkelly
