Yaya Mayweather has been sentenced to 6 years probation after being found guilty of stabbing NBA Youngboy’s ex-girlfriend and baby mother in 2020.
She seems to have committed this crime out of passion and jealousy after finding the victim, Lapattra Lashai in NBA Youngboy’s house in Houston.
Mayweather who is 22 now, was 19 at the time of the crime. She is the daughter of Boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr but has been in and out of the news over her former relationship with NBA Youngboy.
She also shares a son with Youngboy as does the victim, Lapattra Lashai.
Yaya Mayweather started a fight with her and attacked her with two knives. This came after she announced she was the rapper’s fiance. Yaya stabbed Lapattra and gave her multiple Lacerations on her arms. Lapattra had to undergo surgery because of this.
Initially, Yaya was facing up to 20 years in prison before being recommended a smaller sentence because she is a first time offender. She was released back in 2020 on a $30,000 bond.
What did Yaya Mayweather Plead in court?
Yaya Mayweather pleaded guilty to her charge of Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon but she was also given Deferred Adjudication of guilt. This means that after completing her sentence without a hitch, she would have no conviction relating to the incident on her record.
The 22 year old admitted to “unlawfully, intentionally and unknowingly” causing “bodily injury to Lapattra Jacobs” by stabbing her “with a knife.” The boxer’s daughter also waived her right to appeal her conviction.
Her attorney Kent Shaeffer said, “The agreement calls for Iyanna to be on deferred adjudication for a period of 6 years, after which she will have no felony conviction and the case will be dismissed. She is eligible to have the deferred adjudication end after two years pending her good behavior.”
Even though the fight was over NBA Youngboy, the 23 year-old father of 11 children has not made any statement concerning the matter.
