Gabourey Sidibe is reimaging her past life as a phone sex operator on-screen!

Inspired by Sidibe’s actual events, the celebrated actress has just landed a green light on her pilot for an all-new comedy, 1266. The budding TV endeavor was shopped to Onyx Collective, a company designed for creators of color by Disney General Entertainment Content.

According to reports, the anticipated production will follow an aspiring singer/model by the name of Gabby Brixton (portrayed by Sidibe).

With a dreamy ideology of reaching overnight stardom, Brixton’s undeniably-good vocals soon find feat elsewhere… but not on the mic. After losing her full-time job, the success hopeful snags the ultimate, unorthodox gig. One that requires her to use her voice to make men’s dirtiest desires come true–virtually.

As Brixton progresses in her new position, it’s not long before she realizes that the profit from the thriving side hustle also comes with a sense of power.

Sidibe gushed about the exciting news via social media, further confirming that the premise of the project is based on excerpts from her 2017 memoir, This Is Just My Face: Try Not to Stare.

“If you read my book, then you already know what 1266 is about to offer,” the 39-year-old wrote. “We pickin up the phone and collecting coins!! I can’t wait for y’all to see this insanely funny show!”

Thembi Banks (Suitable), Steven Canals (Pose), and Julie Bean (grown-ish) are in place to accompany Sidibe in her executive producer efforts, while Jill Kaplan is serving as a non-writing executive producer. Banks, along with Bean, will act as 1266’s co-showrunner, and she will write the teleplay as well as direct the show.

If slated for series, Gabourey Sidibe’s phone sex comedy is expected to air on Hulu.
