NBA G leaguer Mac McClung has just become a Slam Dunk Contest champion!

McClung played for the Delaware Blue Coats, the Sixers’ G League affiliate, and somehow slid his way into the NBA Slam Dunk Contest and stole the show at NBA All-Star Weekend. He also crowned his weekend by inking a two-way contract with the Philadelphia 76ers.

For his initial dunk, McClung leaped over a pal sitting on the shoulders of another pal, scooped the ball out his hands, slapped the backboard, and concluded with a backward slam that left the judges with no choice but to give him a perfect score of 50.

The second slam was a ballerina-style 360-degree two-handed dunk, and McClung went on to the finals to face New Orleans Pelicans up-comer Trey Murphy III.

Slipping aces out of his sleeve, McClung received another score of 50 for hopping over another individual and slamming it down, before he sewed up the Slam Dunk Contest with a 540-degree jam, fulfilling one-and-a-half turns while suspended in the air.

Afterward, McClung spoke about his dunk contest victory with Andy Scholes: “The crowd was really amazing tonight. It was a blessing. It’s really cool man. I mean I’ll be able to tell my kids and brag about it one day. But yeah, the goal is to play in the NBA. I’m gonna keep working every day. I’m very hungry and I’m resilient so I’m gonna keep working.”

The 76ers tweeted following McClung’s mind-blowing win: “y’all asked “who is Mac McClung?” NOW YOU KNOW!”

Mac McClung, 24, is the first NBA G-League player to participate in the NBA’s Slam Dunk Contest and is also the first 76er to win the slam crown.
