Blackson gets candid about the reason he decided to build schools and expands on what life is like for young children in Africa. He expresses he had a vision about 20 years ago after returning home from rapping up the movie Next Friday with Ice Cube and decided to set a goal to return and make a difference. He said when he was able, he went back to a village where his mother was born and owned land and decided that is where he would build a school. Mostly to avoid “land dispute,” which is popular in Africa, according to Blackson, and legacy.
The 50-year-old talks about his new music endeavors and brings out a signed artist from his company, Michael Blackson Management, while clearing up conversations about Afrobeats, recent Akon comments, and the differences in Black American and Black African cultures.
