R. Kelly legal troubles continue as federal prosecutors in Chicago requests a judge to add 25 more years to his current prison sentence for child pornography and enticement convictions. This comes just after the singer began serving a 30-year sentence for a separate case in New York. The request for additional prison time highlights the severity of the charges against the disgraced R&B star and his fall from grace.

If the judge agrees to this sentence and the separate government request that R. Kelly legal trouble only begins serving his Chicago sentence after fully serving his 30-year New York sentence, then the 56-year-old wouldn’t be eligible for release until he’s around 100 years old.

In a strongly worded sentencing recommendation filed late Thursday in US district court in Chicago, prosecutors described Kelly’s behavior as “sadistic.” They labeled him as “a serial sexual predator” with no remorse. The singer’s actions are said to pose “a serious danger to society,” adding fuel to the fire surrounding his heinous crimes.

As the legal troubles continue for R. Kelly legal trouble and his Chicago sentence approaches, the public is left to wonder what the future holds for the R&B singer. Will he face the full extent of the law, or will he be given a lesser sentence?

“The only way to ensure Kelly does not re-offend is to impose a sentence that will keep him in prison for the rest of his life,” reads the 37-page government filing. However, they have set Kelly’s sentencing in Chicago for next week.

Kelly’s lawyer, Jennifer Bonjean, says his existing 30-year New York sentence makes it unlikely he’ll ever be free. She wrote,” Kelly would have to defy all statistical odds to make it out of prison alive”. She cited data that the average inmate’s life expectancy is 64.

However, Bonjean also calls out the justice system while trying to argue for a lesser sentence. She says that Kelly, who is black, is being singled out for behavior that white rock stars have gotten away with for decades.

“None have been prosecuted, and none will die in prison,” she wrote.
