Your favorite reality tv producer Carlos King has a new show called Grown and Gospel coming to Wetv this March!

Now we all know that when Mr. Carlos King puts a production together you better be ready for straight drama, drama, drama, and lots of culture! Carlos has given us Love and Marriage Huntsville, Love and Marriage DC, and has executive produced four seasons of Bravo’s hit show The Real Housewives of Atlanta (Seasons 6, 7, 8 and 9), The Real Housewives of Atlanta: Kandi’s Wedding, and I Dream of NeNe: The Wedding.

Mr. King now has his sights on religion and will be presenting us with his new show Grown and Gospel coming to WEtv on Thursday March 16, 2023, with new episodes available on popular AMC streaming service ALLBLK every Monday.

The six one-hour episodes follow five, career-driven childhood friends searching for success in the Detroit gospel scene and beyond. Navigating the murky waters of the music industry and hustling to step out of the shadows of their prominent parents.

This close-knit crew grapples with their strict upbringing and high standards as they push towards being the new generation of Gospel. Hearts are broken, dark secrets revealed, as they work to make names for themselves in the music scene and balance their personal lives with career ambition.

It appears that Carlos has found a cast that grew up in the gospel (Christian) and are now grown and ready to tell the world all about their journey! Watch the trailer below:

You may have seen some familiar faces in the trailer such as Tasha Page Lockhart, Elijah Conner, and Shana Wilson-Williams. Those vibrant personalities are accompanied by Breeann “Bree” Hammond, the son of Bishop Michael Brooks, founding member of gospel group “Commissioned” along with Fred Hammond, J. Brooks, and Nikkia Cole-Beach.

Tasha Page Lockhart

Tasha Page Lockhart was born March 21, 1983, as Natasha Marie Page, A mother of two. She is an American Christian R&B and urban contemporary gospel artist and musician. She won the gospel singing competition, BET’s Sunday Best, in season six. She started her music career in 2014 with the release of her first studio album Here Right Now by RCA Records and Fo Yo Soul Recordings. Here Right Now, charted on the Billboard charts The Billboard 200 and Top Gospel Albums.

She is the daughter of Lisa Page Brooks, one of the original members of the contemporary gospel group “Witness.” Tasha is working on a compilation album with stepbrother J. Brooks and struggling to hold on to her marriage. But will her sordid past sabotage it all?

Elijah Connor

Elijah Connor is an American pop singer and songwriter. He is known for starring on season two of The Four: Battle for Stardom on Fox with Diddy. Connor was born in Detroit, Michigan, and had a role on former president Donald Trump‘s reality television series The Ultimate Merger.

He landed a minor role in the movie Sparkle starring Whitney Houston, Mike Epps, and Jordin Sparks. He played himself in the NBC/Oxygen drama series Player Gets Played. Connor’s single “Mill Ticket” feat. Tee Grizzley reached a highest position of No. 69 on the Billboard Charts in 2018 and No. 20 on the charts in South Africa. In October of 2021, Connor signed with Blackground Records.

Elijah is on a strictly secular path in the music business and lives by the motto, “Ask for forgiveness, not permission”. Regardless of having grown up in the church as a PK (Preacher’s Kid), his interests led him in a different direction. Though he is tirelessly working towards success…the pressure to prove himself to his parents is immense as they are still disappointed that he never graduated college and strayed from the church.

Shana Wilson-Williams

Shana Wilson-Williams was born and raised in Detroit Michigan and is the youngest daughter of Bishop Samuel and the late Lady J Wilson founders/pastors of Community Christian Fellowship church. She serves as worship leader, and Music Ministry Coordinator. Shana is a worshipper who’s known for her giftedness in songwriting and her ability to lead people into the presence of God.

In 2006 She became and still is an independent worship artist and has since recorded 3 LIVE worship albums The Nations are Waiting, I love You, and Everlasting with singles such as “Press In your Presence”, “Give Me You” and “It’s in the Room”. In September of 2014 she married the love of her life Mr. Rachard Williams and through their union, they now have a son RJ and 2 daughters Majesty & Legacy.

In 2019 Shana created her very own cosmetics brand “Sarcastic Cosmetics”. Although a worship leader and choir director in her own right, she feels like an outsider in the gospel music industry and will have to work even harder without any “coattails to ride” like the rest of her peers.

BreeAnn 'Bree' Hammond

With her “Musical Clock” ticking, Breeann “Bree” Hammond returns home to the hub of Gospel of Music to give her career one more shot. The daughter of Gospel great Fred Hammond has a now-or-never attitude and strives to integrate herself not only in the music scene, but with this tight-knit group of childhood friends…also offspring of the Gospel elite. Will they welcome her back with open arms?

Clark

Nikkia Cole-Beach was rebellious in her youth and all eyes were on her as the daughter of the legendary Dorinda Clark Cole of “The Clark Sisters”.  Having overcome many demons on the journey to adulthood, Nikkia is now balancing her fulltime job as tour manager for “The Clark Sisters”, motherhood and being the rock for her family, while her husband is in prison. Although she has come a long way, she is in a constant battle to escape the judgment of her past.

Son of Bishop Michael Brooks, founding member of gospel group “Commissioned” along with Fred Hammond, J. Brooks had his first placement at only 14 and has been a traveling musician and producer ever since. With a strong belief that music creates the genre and not vice versa, he was Bree’s first call upon her return to Detroit. Will he be able to rally the crew to support Bree?

Grown and Gospel is Executive Produced by Carlos King, Scott Shatsky and Co-Executive Produced by Angela Dugan of Kingdom Reign Entertainment. Kat Uyenco and Nisa Ahmad also serve as Executive Producers. Lauren Gellert, David Stefanou and Ashley McFarlin, serve as Executive Producers for WE tv.
