Unless you’ve been living underneath a rock, everyone knows that rap stars 50 Cent and Ja Rule have a beef that’s perhaps everlasting. Here, we dive into 50 Cent vs Ja Rule album sales, overall hits, and more.

When did their issues begin? 50 Cent recalled in his book Pieces to Weight (2005), “A friend of mine robbed Ja Rule. That’s how the beef originally started. My man robbed him for a chain, and then this guy named Brown came and got the chain back for Ja. Later, Ja saw me in a club with the kid who robbed him. I went over to say, ‘What’s up’ to Ja, and he acted like he had a problem with me. But I’m not the one who robbed him.”

Ja, who later acknowledged the incident occurred, however, denied having seen 50 with the thief. He says that during the filming of the music video for his single “Murda 4 Life,” the Murder Inc. team allegedly made 50 feel unwelcomed.

Either way, the two lyricists have been trading shots since 1999. Nevertheless, we came to talk about the music in this column.

Between 50 Cent and Ja Rule — who’s the biggest music star? Who has the most No. 1 singles? Who sold the most records? Read below to find out.

Ja Rule’s albums sold over 30 million copies globally, including 14.4 million in the US and 600,000 in the UK. Ja’s album Pain Is Love, which sold almost 4 million copies, is his best-selling one.

So there you have it — the two are practically tied, at least when it comes to overall album sales! Now, you fully understand why Ja Rule felt disrespected not making Billboard & Vibe’s 50 Greatest Rappers of All Time list yet 50 Cent did.
