Chris Rock talks about Donald Trump and Tupac Shakur! According to the actor/comedian, Trump’s arrest would be similar to that of Tupac in that it would only increase his popularity.

Rock took time out to crack some jokes on the recent political drama in the US while on stage at a celebration honoring Adam Sandler with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor on Sunday, March 19.

The comic reportedly said, “Are you really going to arrest Trump?” prior to quipping that it would be “like apprehending Tupac.” Simply put, the ex-president would merely sell more records.

According to David Smith of The Guardian, the comedian then said that charging and detaining the former president “is only going to make him more popular.”

Trump is currently under investigation by multiple judicial authorities for his actions before and during his time as president, including his alleged use of campaign funds to buy the silence of an adult film star with whom he allegedly had an affair. Defending himself, Trump stated that he “never had an affair with [Stormy Daniels].”

“We’ve all been cheated on. Don’t you wish that the person that cheated on you paid off somebody so you wouldn’t find out?” said the Selective Outrage host.

Rock’s earlier mention of the late Tupac was probably in reference to the mind-blowing success of his 1995 L.P. Me Against the World, which the rap star released while serving 8 months in the penitentiary for a felony charge of sexual assault.

More jokes made about Will Smith that didn’t make the final edit of his recent Netflix comedy special were made public by Rock during his speech.

Speaking in Sandler’s honor was a slew of notable comedians, actors, and moviemakers. David Spade, Steve Buscemi, Luis Guzmán, Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, and Conan O’Brien were some of the stars that paid Sandler homage.
