Nicki Minaj’s “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” hits #1!

The celebrated rapper locked down consecutive No. 1 debuts on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs chart with her most recent track, “Red Ruby Da Sleeze,” which premiered at the top of the chart for the week ending March 18.

The song comes after Minaj‘s last appearance on the chart, “Super Freaky Girl,” which also debuted at No. 1 and remained at that position for 11 weeks.

With “Sleeze,” Minaj earns her sixth Hot Rap Songs No. 1 single. She comes out of a tie with LL Cool J for exclusive possession of fifth place on the overall leaderboard and extends her record as the female with the most championships in the chart’s history, which dates back to 1989.

Notably, Minaj’s most recent song follows in the footsteps of its predecessor by incorporating a famous earlier hit. “Sleeze” uses a sample from Lumidee’s “Never Leave You (Uh Oooh),” which peaked at No. 3 on the 2003 Billboard Hot 100. Likewise, the Rick James single “Super Freak,” which reached No. 3 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in 1981, was sampled in “Super Freaky Girl.”

The addition of “Sleeze,” Minaj makes her fourth No. 1 debut on the Hot Rap Songs chart, tying Travis Scott for the second-most No. 1 debuts in the chart’s history. Only Drake, who has eight songs to his credit at the top, is ahead of the duo.

14 million official U.S. streams in the tracking week of March 9 were mostly responsible for “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” reaching No. 1 on Hot Rap Songs. The amount results in a No. 1 debut on the Rap Streaming Songs chart, where it becomes the Queens native fifth Billboard trophy.

During the same monitoring period, “Sleeze” also generated 41,000 download sales, making it the single with the most sales overall for the week. As a result, it debuts at the top of the Digital Song Sales list, where it moves up to No. 1 and becomes Minaj’s 13th top song.
