Sheryl Lee Ralph says TV judge violated her. The illustrious actress/performer is speaking up about a past alleged sexual assault.

Ralph claims that a “renowned TV judge” became inappropriate with her at a professional function in front of witnesses but that she was advised to keep quiet out of concern for “bad press.”

During a sit-down with Way Up With Angela Lee, she was asked about her thoughts on the #MeToo movement, and she offered her comments regarding a situation of her own.

If you don’t know #MeToo is a global initiative that was in place to raise awareness about the not-often-talked-about sexual misconduct against women.

This prompted the Abbott Elementary star to talk openly about the different #MeToo experiences she’s had over her career, with this accusation being the most specific.

“I’m at a very public place. I was suited. I had my suit on. I was handling my business for the television show I was on at that time. He and I were on the same network. This man walked in, grabbed me by the back of my neck, turned me around, and rammed his nasty ass tongue down my throat,” she remembered. “And everybody at the network saw it,” Ralph expressed about the traumatizing ordeal.

Even while she declined to identify the TV judge, Ralph made careful to say that Judge Greg Mathis was not the one. “I love him. He’s a great man. Not him at all. He’s a great man. This was another one.”

Ralph is now willing to share her story because she wants to inspire other women to be forthright and truthful about their experiences. She advised, “Speak up, tell your truth, do not carry the burden of the pain… especially if you feel like it’s something you can’t work through.”

Ralph made a reference to Marc Morial, the Mayor of New Orleans from 1994 to 2002, saying that he was prepared to dispatch law enforcement to handle the problem, but the classic ‘Dreamgirl’ chose to comply with the network’s request that she remain quiet. She played a lead role in the UPN sitcom Moesha during this time.

“Somebody on the network tapped me on the shoulder saying, ‘Please don’t.’ They did not want any bad press around their show and did not care what had just happened to me. They saw what happened. That’s the kind of stuff that happens. That’s what makes it hard for women to speak up about these things,” Ralph added.
