A rubber watch strap is a watch made from an elongated rubber strip. The chronicle of rubber span as late as 1600. When it was harvested from a plant in Central and South America. Gradually, scientists invented a synthetic version.

Wristwatch brands started introducing rubber straps, and customers fell in love with them from the get-go because of their beauty. The beauty of the rubber strap can sometimes be marred due to dirt and occasionally damage. This short article will show you how to protect your rubber watch strap.

Ways to protect your rubber strap wristwatch

One of the important aspects of a timepiece is the watch straps. More so, the watch strap has various varieties. Some of the popular watch strap materials are rubber, leather and metal bands. How you maintain a rubber strap is quite different from how you will maintain a metal or leather strap. To keep your rubber watch strap in good condition, follow the tips below:

Proper cleaning

The effect of dust or dirt on rubber straps cannot be over-emphasized. The chief reason for buying a rubber strap watch is because it is durable and aesthetically pleasing. When dirt or dust is allowed to rest on it, it mars or puts a blemish on its beauty. It would rest on the locomotive part of the strap. Also, it becomes a hassle to put your watch on over time. It is necessary that the rubber watch strap be kept clean at all times.

Dry properly after cleaning

It is general knowledge that continuous rubber exposure to water or other solvents, such as oil leads to swelling. If your rubber watch strap is exposed to liquid for some time and then dried, it might lose the absorbed water. The effect of exposure of rubber watch straps is that it reduces their lifespan. If such mistakes are rectified, you might use them much longer.

Recurrent or repeated exposure and use of drying agent on rubber watch strap is bad and hence not advisable. Drying agents such as perfumes and alcohol do not cooperate with rubber products like the rubber watch strap.

If this drying agent is used repeatedly, it causes de-coloration, damaging its beauty. They also cause swelling and hardening, leading to cracking if exposed for too long. Keep your rubber watch strap away from drying agents. Do not use any drying agent unless you know it will cause no damage.

Replace the rubber strap as it is worn out

Like other materials, rubber will wear out, irrespective of the quality and material from which it is made. This also applies to your rubber watch strap. Typically, rubber watch straps need to be replaced after eighteen (18) months to two years. You should change your rubber watch as soon as it wears out.

Conclusion

The rubber watch strap is an aesthetically pleasing material that must always be protected from damage. Finally, getting a quality rubber strap for your wristwatch will determine how long it will last. Opt for a Breitling rubber strap for your wristwatch. You can find your Breitling rubber strap online.
