Dwayne Johnson is talking openly about his history with depression and the persons who have supported him during those trying moments.

In a recent interview with the “Pivot Podcast,” the 51-year-old actor discussed his battle with depression.

The “Jumanji” actor said in the video that when he first experienced mental health issues in college, he wasn’t aware that he was suffering from depression.

He referred to his time as a University of Miami student by saying, “So my first bout of depression was down there in Miami,” in the video. Johnson claimed that his desire to attend the institution had abruptly vanished.

“I was ready to leave. I didn’t take any midterms and I just left,” Johnson said.

The wrestler furthered, “But the interesting thing at that time is I just didn’t know what it was. I didn’t know what mental health was. I didn’t know what depression was. I just knew I didn’t want to be there.”

“Years later, (I) went through it again when I got a divorce,” Johnson expressed. The action star and his first spouse, Dany Garcia (producer and businesswoman), were married for nearly 10 years (1997 to 2008).

Johnson claimed he was still oblivious to his depressive state.

“Years later, around 2017 or so, (I) went through it a little bit. But, (I) knew what it was at that time,” the WWE champ continued.

Despite the significant impact that his friends had in his recovery, he said that his three children, Ava Raine (21), Jasmine Johnson (7), and Tia Johnson (5), are his largest pillars of support.

“The saving grace for me has really been my daughters. The three of them and being a girl dad, that’s been the saving grace. Because you look at them and you realize, well, I mean, really, this is what it’s all about,” said the “Black Adam” star.

Jasmine and Tia are shared by Johnson and his wife Lauren Hashian, whom he wed in 2019. Ava Raine, a model and professional wrestler, is the child of Johnson and his former spouse Garcia.
