Track and field superstar Noah Lyles, a six-time world champion, recently captured attention by securing victory in the World Athletics Championships, ending a drought for the American team. However, his moment in the spotlight received notice from NBA Players when he critiqued some of America’s most prominent athletes, and he faces backlash from comments that he made that night.

Lyles aimed at NBA players during the weekend, triggering a barrage of criticism. He challenged their use of the “world champions” title, given that the NBA predominantly comprises American teams. In response, NBA stars employed humorous comebacks on social media, sparking laughter across the board.

Numerous NBA players expressed strong disagreement with Lyles’ viewpoint. Kevin Durant playfully said “Someone help this brother” while Devin Booker showed his disagreement with a face-palm emoji.

Non-American NBA players underscored the league’s representation of basketball talent from around the globe. Golden State Warriors star forward, Juan Toscano-Anderson, also asserted that the NBA is unequivocally the preeminent worldwide competition. Native American players also didn’t agree with Lyles’ stance. Which further pushed the overall Backlash from NBA Players.

Aaron Gordon has even challenged him to a 200m race. Udonis Haslem, an NBA champion, who had previously held Lyles in high regard, expressed astonishment at Lyles’ disrespectful remarks.

NBA enthusiasts also flooded the comments with disapproving sentiments toward Lyles’ statements. One fan advised him to remain within the confines of his own sport, urging him to “shut your mouth and just talk about running.”

Another fan passionately defended the NBA’s claim to the “world champions” title, highlighting the league’s stature as the battleground of the world’s finest players, and drawing distinctions from sports like track and wrestling.

Noah Lyles’ triumph as a track and field world champion was overshadowed by his critical remarks towards players, triggering Backlash from NBA Players players and stars from around the world.
