After a competitor in a Polish reality show utilized Blackface and shouted the “N-word” while performing a version of a Kendrick Lamar song, there was a significant response. Kuba Szmajkowski used blackface and the response is as expected.
In the television show Your Face Sounds Familiar, eight celebrities dress up like their favorite musicians to perform songs and support charitable causes.
However, one competitor, pop star Kuba Szmajkowski, overstepped the mark when he sang the hit record “Humble” by the Los Angeles native from his 2017 album Damn.
Szmajkowski can be seen singing the song while wearing Blackface in a clip from Saturday’s broadcast, and he uses the N-word midway through.
The program has faced criticism before for its usage of Blackface, but its creators claimed on Instagram that they were “surprised by the negativity.”

The judges and audience must have loved the performance because Szmajkowski ended up taking home the prize that evening.
In the same episode, Blackface was also employed by Polish actress Pola Gonciarz while she was portraying Beyoncé.
Additionally, it’s not the first time the program has drawn criticism for similar antics; in the past, participants have impersonated Drake and Kanye West while wearing Blackface.
Szmajkowski did give his prize money of 10,000 Polish zlotys ($2,493) to charity after winning, but his victory will most certainly be remembered for the negative reasons.
