Orlando Anderson was not the shooter of Tupac Shakur, despite common belief.  This is according to a witness.

Last week, Duane “Keefe D” Davis, Anderson’s uncle, was detained in connection with the late rapper’s death, bringing the long-running unresolved case to its conclusion for the first time.

Keefe D, a former member of the South Side Compton Crip, has been charged with “murder with the use of a deadly weapon with the intent to promote, further or assist a criminal gang.”

The homicide, according to the prosecution, was done as “retribution” against the “Dear Mama” rapper, who accosted Anderson in the lobby of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas a few hours before he was murdered on September 7, 1996.

They assert that Keefe D, Orlando Anderson (better known as Baby Lane), Deandre “Big Dre” Smith, and Terrence “Bubble Up” Brown were all in the vehicle that was used in the drive-by shooting.

Murder Case of Tupac Shakur Takes a Twist

Keefe is said to have given one of Anderson or Smith, who were sitting in the backseats behind him, the murder weapon.

Despite the fact that it has long been assumed that Anderson fired the shots, a member of the South Side Compton Crips testified in the weeks before the indictment that Smith, not Anderson, was the one who gunned down Shakur.

Per 8 News Now, the Tupac murder witness explained to a Las Vegas grand jury, “When [Davis] passed the firearm to Orlando, Orlando didn’t have a clear shot. Big Dre is six-six. At this time he’s 370, 400 [pounds]. He’s big.

“And you’re not going to be able to lean over a big guy like that and get — I mean, my time of knowing things, doing — you’re not going to reach over like that because shells would have been popping all in Big Dre’s face and all kind of stuff. He can’t bend down or anything, he’s too big.”

The gang associate said to the jurors when questioned if Smith was the triggerman, “He did the shooting.”

The lone defendant in the case who is still alive, Keefe D, was also charged with ordering the shooting, according to the witness, who stated, “Keefe is the one who’s going to make all the arrangements and all the plans until that gun goes into somebody else’s hand.”
