Jada Pinkett-Smith Speaks Out After Arrest In Tupac Shakur Murder Case

Jada Pinkett Smith, who’s never hid her everlasting love for the late Tupac Shakur, has spoken out regarding an arrest in the iconic rapper’s homicide. The Jada Pinkett Smith reaction to the Tupac murder suspect arrest came via social media.

On Friday, September 29, Las Vegas police detained Duane “Keefe D” Davis in connection with the 1996 slaying of Tupac Shakur.

Davis was accused of one count of homicide with a deadly weapon and one count of aiding, abetting, or promoting a criminal organization. A few hours later, Jada Pinkett, the illustrious rapper’s childhood pal, offered her opinion on the situation.

“Now I hope we can get some answers and have some closure. R.I.P. Pac,” the Jason’s Lyric actress posted via Instagram Stories. Years passed without any indictments, and the “I Get Around” rapper’s murder appeared to be doomed to remain a cold case for all time at one point.

While they were both students at the Baltimore School for the Arts, Tupac Shakur and Jada Pinkett Smith developed a personal bond that lasted until his death. She uploaded a video of the then-teens lip-syncing to DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince’s “Parents Just Don’t Understand” earlier this month to express her enduring love for the late hip hop star.

Later, in 1997, Pinkett wed Will Smith, also known as The Fresh Prince, and together they had two children, 25-year-old Jaden Smith and 22-year-old Willow Smith.  Though she has since admitted that she never wanted to be married.

The Set It Off actor captioned her post on Instagram, “Not in a million years would I have dreamed that the Fresh Prince and I would become, um, very acquainted. Not in a million years did I imagine three lives, their fates, would be so intertwined.”

There is some relief that perhaps justice will be done 27 years after Shakur was murdered. Despite not having pulled the trigger, Davis is nevertheless legally tied to the homicide in Nevada.

Lt. Jason Johansson of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department stated: “He orchestrated the plan that was carried out.”
