Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts surprised everyone when he announced recently that he and fiancée Bry Burrows were officially husband and wife. How did the Jalen Hurts and Bry Burrows Meet?
Jalen Hurts normally keeps his private life private, which explains why not much was known about Bry Burrows until recently.
Burrows and Hurts met when they were students at the University of Alabama and dated on and off for years.
Hurts was the quarterback at the University of Alabama for two years before transferring to the University of Oklahoma in his senior year. He and Burrows crossed paths through the Greek system. She was an Alpha Kappa Alpha or AKA and he was part of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity or a Que Dog.
According to his interview with People Magazine, Hurts knew one day she’d be his wife.
Hurts said he “knew a long time ago” that Burrows was the one for him, adding, “I mean, to this point in my life, that’s an irreplaceable feeling. I think that’s what allowed us to get to where we are now.”
Meet Bry Burrows
Burrows graduated from the University of Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and political science. She then received her MBA at Alabama’s Manderson School of Business.
After college, Burrows moved to Dallas to take a consulting job with IBM. One of the things that bonded her and her future husband is their love of giving and helping others.
Burrows participated in the Manderson Women in Business talk and a Diversity & Inclusion panel in 2021, where she praised IBM for their diversity program, which she participated in.
“I’m fortunate my company allows us the space to converse, listen, and learn from one another,” she told the group. “D & I is deeper than gender, skin color, or nationality. It’s about lived experiences that define who we are and better our community and workplace.”
Hurts also works with several charities in the Philadelphia area.
The pair made their first red carpet appearance at the Time 100 Gala in 2023, and in September 2024, they announced their engagement.
Essence reported that the engagement took place on a beach while the pair was on vacation. Hurts had a very romantic setup with candles, a violinist, and roses.
Who Is Bry Burrows? She’s His Rock
Hurt refers to his new wife as his rock and gave her a shout-out during the Super Bowl press conference.
He said, “To Bry, the Mrs., thank you for the support, thank you for the love, and thank you for being the rock that I can lean on. “
He later revealed in a Men’s Health article that they were indeed married.
The couple made their first appearance as a married couple on the red carpet at the Met Gala two weeks ago.
It’s clear that Burrows has made a huge impact on her husband’s life. Hurts has mentioned before that his whole team, from his agent to his lawyer, are all Black women, and his relationship with his new wife heavily influences his appreciation and love of Black women.
