During the 1990s and early 2000s, Nelly was the king of raunchy rap songs, certified club bangers, and hood anthems. Even on a collaboration, Nelly dominated. Whether he had the ladies taking off all of their clothes because it was too “hot in here,” the fellas “stomping in their air force ones,” or the tailfeathers shaking, the St. Louis-grown hitmaker delivered classic bops that still bump from generation to generation.

If you don’t know, Nelly first hit the scene in 1993, with Midwest-based, R&B/Hip-Hop group St. Lunatics, then went on to pursue a solo career. His debut album, Country Grammar, was released in 2000 and has sold over 8.4 million copies to date.

Since then, Nelly has followed up with seven more albums, Nellyville (2002), Sweat and Suit (2004), Brass Knuckles (2008), 5.0 (2010), M.O. (2013) and his latest, an ode to Country music titled, Heartland (2021).

Now, over twenty years and a plethora of musical and entrepreneurial accomplishments later, the rapper-singer-turned-actor and renowned businessman could definitely go down in the book of G.O.A.T.s.

His mark is quite unmatched.

These days while he’s still touring and staying relevant, he’s in the news more for his relationship with Ashanti.  But we’ll never forget the hits.
