For the better part of her career in the limelight, the Saweetie brand showcases her as a symbol for “pretty girls” who want to be “unbothered” and “stay paid.” An all around “icy girl.” Her brand image has taken several knocks in the past, from drama of her relationship with Quavo to rumors of being involved his groupmate, Offset. Still, none of that impacted her brand as hard as the revelation in October 2025 when Maybach May took to the internet to call out Saweetie over a debt settlement for escort work.
Saweetie’s football debut
This was a huge accusation and not just to Saweetie’s brand because the client in question was renowned soccer player and Manchester United star, Jadon Sancho who had been involved in deals worth over $100 million. Well, footballers ordering escorts even if it was a big music star like Saweetie wasn’t the oddest thing. What made this scenario out of the ordinary was the fact that a couple of weeks ago, Jadon Sancho had gone viral for being out and about with the rapper and even getting a tattoo of her middle name “Qiava.” For Maybach May, that was exhibit A in building her case.
The Allegations Go Public
On the 7th of October, her case was water tight and Maybach May took to Instagram to begin calling out Saweetie for not paying for linking her with Jadon Sancho. A couple of text images might have done harm to a celebrity with a global reach, but May came with receipts. She posted images of texts of the rapper reaching out to her to discuss a price “for running up a weekend on Jadon.” As if that was not enough, she claimed Saweetie was paid to make appearances at Chelsea games and ended up “falling for the client.” The revelations rubber stamped earlier allegations about Saweetie by fellow rap star Cardi B about her baby daddy and ex-husband Offset, where she claimed the icy girl had a relationship with him.
Saweetie Responds To Allegations
As expected, Saweetie in a couple of days came online to refute the allegations in a statement released on her Instagram “The recent accusations made about me are false, derogatory and deeply disturbing. These claims misrepresent the facts and are solely aimed to damage my reputation. This person never managed me, they were only introduced to me by family. Her motives are now obvious, I’ll let the lawyers take it from here.”
As necessary as refuting May’s claims were, the damage was already done, especially on the internet where it’s easier to start a viral lie than it is to refute one.
Gender, Misogyny and the Gold digger script
Take away the names and this story looks very similar to stories of popular women who carry the same “pretty girl,” “ get the bag” brand and have been affected by this long standing misogynistic script that makes it easy for allegations like this to easily stick. In the past, rapper Cardi B, faced similar allegations by Youtuber Tasha K. Cardi sued and won a defamation case that ordered the Youtuber to pay a fee to the tune of $1.2 million. More women need to stand up quickly to such allegations. That would go a long way to reducing the potency of such information as tools for bringing down popular women in the society.
What Next?
What’s next for Saweetie, her “client” lover, her accuser, the court case and her career? The movement (or lack of) with the legal proceedings if eventually she goes forward with it will control the narrative of whatever is to come.
As for her music career, back in November 2024, Saweetie confirmed to “Call Her Daddy” host Alex Cooper that her album was dropping in 2025. However, as of this writing, no updates have come in regards to that. With the year fast running out and the allegations piling up, the chances that we see a resolution in either Saweetie’s personal life or career in 2025 are quickly fading.
