South Africa’s very own, Tyla Seethal released her second studio album on Friday, July 24, 2026. With an interesting title, A*POP, the album finds Tyla 2 years after her self-titled project, which dropped in March 2024. That album included the viral hit “Water,” among other tracks. Her success as a solo artist has helped her become more famous with each song she makes.
Tyla has collaborated with a number of artists over the past 2 years, but her fans wanted a new project. They got a new version of her in ‘A*POP’ with the 14 tracks fans weren’t expecting from her.
It didn’t take long before the reactions on social media started coming in for the ‘A*POP’ album. The project’s single, “Chanel” was released about 9 months ago, and showed how the project was going to be. Despite how big the success for the single, so many early reviews for the project weren’t so great.

let’s get one thing straight. A*POP isn’t a bad album. is it better than her debut? NO. did it surpass my expectations? not really. it’s just decent. my only gripe is the obvious mismatch between the album’s marketing and the sound we got.

While the early reactions have been a bit crazy, it may be also due to lots of demand from the leaks. Fans need to understand that these projects from an artist take a bit of time. Some fans were expecting a song similar to “Water”, but it is not realistic for an artist yet.
It remains to be seen as possibly another song from this project that can save summer 2026. Even dominating the charts like her previous work.
