TV personality Sidney Starr accused of sexual assault? Let’s just say, we certainly weren’t expecting that to shoot across the desk this morning.
According to reports, the transgender socialite, legally known as Sidney Favors, was arrested in Fulton County on felony charges involving inappropriate acts on a minor. Per Fox 5 Atlanta, authorities were said to have booked Starr on Sunday, Aug. 2, after an alleged incident (seemingly) ensued at the Embassy Suites in Hapeville, Georgia.
Records show that the 37-year-old was hit with three major offenses: sexual battery against child under 16, aggravated child molestation, and sodomy. At this time, legal details surrounding the disturbing accusations are unavailable due to the supposed victim’s age.
Sidney Starr Accused of Sexual Assault — The Charges
The Hapeville Police Department told the outlet, “Because this case involves a juvenile, no additional information will be released from our agency.”
The investigation is now in the hands of the district attorney’s office as Starr awaits at the Fulton County Jail. Following the widespread report, The Hollywood Groupchat’s Blog Nae shared footage of the officers taking the suspect into custody, along with purported specifics of the occurrence. In one of the videos, the cop car is captured driving off with Starr inside as the female bystander behind the camera is shouting, “Sidney Starr, a f*cking molester! They got Sidney Starr, y’all! Sexually assaulting a f*cking thirteen-year-old at a hotel!”
Another clip shows the officials (seemingly) speaking to those connected to the situation: “This type of investigation usually is not resolved quickly, and I know that it’s stressful, and I’m sorry that this has interrupted y’all’s life. I’m interested in doing it thoroughly so that justice can be served properly.”
There have been whispers that Starr (allegedly) spotted a male youngster at a hotel, where he was staying for a football event, and ushered him up to her room to “show him something.” Once the reputed crime was committed, the fearful teen is said to have fled the scene, but Starr attempted to stop him with a money bribe before he escaped and notified a family member.
Social media has already erupted, ranting that this is a huge turn of the tables for Starr. If you didn’t know, she first rose to prominence after sparking a false rumor regarding rapper Chingy. In 2010, the Love & Hip Hop phenomenon claimed that she and the “Right Thurr” lyricist had a romantic relationship. Starr’s story came amid a viral photo of the two together and prompted a slew of public backlash against Chingy, specifically in an anti-gay era of the music business. However, she later admitted that her claims were untrue and made for clout.
“At that time, I was really young, and I really can say that I did [make] a few mistakes,” she elaborated in a 2021 sit-down with Mogul State of Mind. “I was thirsty for fame. I will admit to that. But, at that time, I had people telling me this, people telling me that. [They were like] ‘You wanna really get your name out here? You gotta do this, you gotta do that. You’re trans; no one’s gonna pay attention to you. So, this is what you gotta do.’ And that’s what I was doing… listening to the wrong folks.”
In a 2024 interview with TMZ, Chingy indicated that it nearly destroyed his career.
“When that happened, I lost a lot of stuff… based off a lie, which was just… that was the most oddest thing I’d ever seen,” he said. “When the individual apologized, and it so-called went away, which it took years to blow away, nah, man, ain’t nothing good happened from that for me.”
The St. Louis native added, “When an artist such as my caliber, who sold millions of records [and] was once one of the biggest artists in the world, they look at that different. If they’re not seeing you at these award shows all the time, on the radio all the time, they’re like, ‘Well, where is he at? What’s wrong?’ What was wrong was a lot of the sabotaging and bull crap in this industry.”
When asked if he and the Baddies cast member “made up” since the fiasco, he replied, “It was spilled milk, and I lost a lot from it. That person gained. I’m not gon’ hold on to something; it is what it is. [You] apologized, cool. I’m going this way and [letting] that individual do their thing.”
Further into the conversation, Chingy concluded, “That situation… that hurt my career. Like, I’m just gon’ be honest about it; it really did.”
