[FIRST LOOK] Meet The Cast of Issa Rae’s ‘Sweet Life: Los Angeles’

Issa Rae is set to go into the reality television space with a new show on HBO Max titled, Sweet Life: Los Angeles.  The new reality series will premiere on August 19th.

Sweet Life: Los Angeles is about young black people who come up together as friends and go through all the motions of coming into adulthood while pursuing careers as they scratch the surface in their young lives.

Issa Rae gave the viewers a preview of what they can expect from the reality series through a press release: “We’re so proud to present a grounded in fun slice of young black LA life. We hope the HBO Max audience will relate to and fall in love with this group of friends as much as we have.”

The star-studded cast for this series features Cheryl Des Vignes, Amanda Scott, Jerrold Smith II, Briana Jones, P’Jae Compton, Jordan Bentley, and Tylynn Burns.

Meet The Cast of Sweet Life: Los Angeles:

Cheryl Des Vignes

While coming up in her birthplace of Watts, Los Angeles, Vignes 26, had to work hard to make it in the fashion industry and now the hard work has resulted into her own clothing line, which is all about promoting the positive image of taking care of your body. Vignes has also taken out the time to help out women of color in her home town.

Amanda Scott


Scott 25, was raised in Inglewood.  She has long term goals of promoting the greatness of black culture, entrepreneurship, and business in Los Angeles. Scott wants to build a PR firm called “Buy Black The Block” with hopes of buying 100 properties in the area per. In the meantime she is working in the PR department helping with financial services.

Back in July 2021 she released her own eyelash collection, simply titled, The Kollection.

Jerrold Smith II

Smith is a former college basketball player for UCLA and is currently hosting a podcast titled, Basketball Adjacent.  He ihas also branched his career outside of the sports industry with him currently being in the marketing industry working with Westbrook Inc.

Last year, Jerrold competed alongside LaJuan Morris and Jordan Bentley as a team in the Netflix reality show, “Floor is Lava“.  The team won $10,000.

Jordan Bentley

 

Bentley started working on his own brand named Hypland back when he was a teenager. As his brand has grown into a successful multi-million dollar business, the 25 year wants to help other young people become business minded and be entrepreneurs.  He currently has a partnership with Hello Kitty.

Briana Jones

Jones comes in as the newest person in the group as she also is working as an entrepreneur coming out of the Kalamazoo Michigan area and has been an LA resident since 2018. The 26 year-old Jones has a company named Butterd by Bri which is intended to help people better than skin and keep a healthy body.

P’Jae Compton

Compton has created a great resume of his own by becoming a manager within the music industry while still growing at the age of 27. P’Jae also got noticed and rewarded by the local pro baseball team LA Dodgers as he was named the Community Hero by the team for his work in fashion, social media and modeling in 2019.

Tylynn Burns

Burns has also came through the ranks of entrepreneurship and has own brand named House Party Creative which is to help with events. The 26 Burns has also made sure to help other black and brown entrepreneurs as we need more of them to thrive in the cut throat business world. During Juneteenth this year Tylynn created #RealBlackGiveBack and Real Black Greatness to help raise charity during the now brand new holiday that was made in the law this year.
