As soon as he became the first artist to be signed to J. Cole’s label Dreamville, Bas has had big shoes to fill. Born in Paris, France, Bas moved to Queens, New York, at the age of eight. Before Bas was particularly interested in music, older brother, now known as DJ Moma, did everything he could to introduce Bas to various musical styles, including the electronic influences of the European music scene, which, at the time, was quite different from the popular American music of the era.

These experiences with DJ Moma, and many others from Bas’ early childhood, are the driving inspiration behind the recent Interscope Records delivered album, Last Winter. Bas describes his latest record as “not a heavy, emotional album,” but also says that he “introduced wisdom” wherever possible. When asked to explain the way he thought fans would react to the album, Bas had this to say, “I want to make music that you can enjoy in any setting.” Bas also says that he has “more to his story to tell,” and believes that Last Winter will fill in some of the empty spaces in his life story.

Helping him tell “his story” is a star-studded group of Hip-Hop and R&B artists including the Grammy-nominated J. Cole as well as Irvin Washington, K-Quick, and Mack Wilds, who has also received a Grammy nomination.

Though this album will take his career in a new direction completely, this will not be Bas’ s first trip into the limelight of critically acclaimed music. His mixtape, Quarter Water Raised Me Vol. II, was deemed one of the Top 20 mixtapes of 2013 by Source Magazine.

As if the development of a new album wasn’t enough for the young recording artist, Bas recently embarked on his Last Winter Tour. During the tour, Bas showcased the recent album and visited key cities such as Dallas, Houston, Austin, Washington D.C, and then returned home to New York before heading to Atlanta and Chicago.  He is currently joining J. Cole on his Dollar and a Dream Tour traveling throughout North America.
