On July 10th, Nina Simone gets her tribute album and by the list of names involved its sure to be a good one. The project features Lauryn Hill on 6 tracks, while Nina’s daughter Lisa Simone appears on an additional 2 songs. Other notable names to appear on the project are Usher, Jazmine Sullivan and Mary J, just to name a few. The 16-track project pays homage to the legendary Nina Simone with re-worked renditions of some of her most popular songs.

In addition to the album, Nina is also the subject of the Netflix documentary, What Happened, Miss Simone? The documentary premieres on Netflix on June 26th. It’s a good time to relive the wonder that she was.
