50 Cent Leaving Power After Not Being Nominated For the Golden Globes

Rapper-turned-actor 50 Cent has threatened to leave the Starz hit show, Power, after realizing that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has failed to acknowledge the show, once again. On Monday, the Golden Globes revealed the nominees for their 2017 awards show; however, Power seemed to be nowhere on that list. Following the news, the executive producer and star of the show, Curtis Jackson (50 Cent), took to Instagram to share his frustration and reveal that .

“I’m on the move again. Golden Globes can suck a d**k. I accept my series POWER was not intended to be a signature show for the network, but it is the highest rated show,” He expressed in the post. “SEASON 4 KANAN MUST DIE. I got other sh*t to do.”

Power
finished up their third season this past September, and the network has already ordered a season four and five. The show is doing so well that it has literally become a fan favorite and one of the most watched, highest rated shows on the Starz network, every Sunday night, during its run. The drama series—created by television writer Courtney Kemp-Agboh and executive produced by 50 Cent—is a crime drama, surrounding a notorious, New York drug lord and nightclub owner, by the name of James ‘Ghost’ St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick), and his life in the cutthroat field of drug trading. Naturi Naughton portrays Hardwick’s wife, Tasha, while Joseph Sikora portrays his best friend, Tommy Egan.

With 50’s star character, St. Patrick’s new rival, Kanan, the show thrived, even more. So, we can definitely see why the 41-year-old is up in arms about the Golden Globes snub. After his first Instagram response, he then made another one, with a photo of Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s face photoshopped on Power‘s season four promo flyer.

“I’m off the POWER train. Champ is gonna do the show. Go to him for more info. I gotta do something different.” He stated. While we’re not sure how serious 50’s comments are, the next day, he came back to Instagram, telling people to stop calling his phone because he was ‘working on a new project’. Let’s just say, he sounds pretty serious.

It has been clearly seen that most of these award shows are in the business of discrediting those who deserve to be credited the most. Not to mention, this is not the only time Power has been left out of the Golden Globe nominations. In January of this year, 50 also called the Globes out for not even inviting the Power cast to the awards show. Can you say shady?

But, despite 50’s unapologetic rant, Starz made it clear that they aren’t tripping.

“We are grateful for the excellent work being done on Power by the producers, cast and crew. We certainly think this exceptional show has been overlooked by various awards committees, but the fans have made it the second-most-watched show on premium cable in 2016, and those are accolades that mean just as much, if not more.” A Starz spokesperson told Deadline.

Hopefully, we will see 50 Cent aka ‘Kanan’ back for the fourth season! Looks like we will just have to wait and see….
