Singer Announces Strength of A Woman Album Release Date

Just weeks after the release of her latest single, “U + Me (Love Lesson)”, Mary J. Blige has unveiled the official release date and cover art for her brand new album, titled, Strength of A Woman. Strength of A Woman will make Mary’s thirteenth studio album and is set to be released on April 28th. It also serves as a follow-up to 2014’s The London Sessions.

Blige revealed the news via Instagram, and the fans are already highly anticipating what’s to come. With musical accompany from heavy hitters in the game, such as Jasmine Sullivan and Kanye West, the new Mary J. Blige album will definitely be something to hear. Strength of A Woman also features production from producers Hit-Boy and DJ Camper.

This is Blige’s first album in almost three years. She revealed the lead single “Thick of It” to end 2016 and the latest single, “U + Me (Love Lesson)” spoke on the ending of her relationship with her ex-husband, Kendu Isaacs. They were together for twelve years, but the couple divorced last year. Many are speculating that Blige will speak more on the woes of her relationship on the new album. However, we’ll just have to wait and see.

“We find that strength in us to not just survive these trials, but to thrive, to live, to get something out of it to not make the same mistakes again.” She said, referring to the album title.

The cover art for Strength of A Woman depicts Blige sitting on a throne in all black. It’s safe to say that 2017 is, without a doubt, the year of MJB.

Look out for Strength of A Woman on April 28th.
