BET To Air Fat Camp with Chris Redd & Vivica A. Fox
BET has picked up the new comedic film FAT CAMP to air in July. The film is about a young man who’s forced to work at his uncle’s fat camp. It stars Chris Redd who was also in last year’s Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping and Award-Winning Actress Vivica A. Fox.
In the film, twenty-something Hutch, played by Chris Redd, is a spoiled, unemployed adult who still lives with his mother. However, things change when his mother gets fed up and decides to kick him out of the house. He finds himself having to supervise a group of husky boys at his uncle’s fat camp. The experience forces Hutch to grow up and learn that there’s more to life than what he previously believed.
Besides Fox and Redd, the film stars also Anabelle Acosta, Mel Rodriguez, Ricco Ross, and newcomer Michael Cienfuegos. Acosta is mostly known for her roles on HBO‘s Ballers and ABC‘s Quantico. Rodriguez stars in FOX television series The Last Man on Earth and appeared alongside actress Niecy Nash on the HBO dark comedy Getting On. And Ross is the hunky actor who starred opposite of Fox in the holiday-themed television film, A Husband for Christmas. He’s also been featured in many films and television series since the early 80s.
FAT CAMP was written by Chuck Hayward, who also worked on the popular Netflix series Dear White People. He wanted to write a script that spoke to the notion of embracing your inner loser as the ultimate winner. Probably in more ways than one.
The film is making its world debut at the Los Angeles Film Festival on Wednesday, June 21st.
