Kendrick Lamar Leads 2017 MTV Video Music Awards Nominees with 8 Nominations

Kendrick Lamar sure is seeing a lot of success in 2017. While his album DAMN. continues to gain success and break records, hopefully Kendrick will keep winning and bring more moon men home this year. The Compton rapper is currently leading the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards Nominees with a total of 8 nominations. Including video of the year, artist of the year as well as best Hip-Hop video of the year. With his popularity, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Kendrick win a majority of these categories.

Both Katy Perry and The Weeknd follow behind with 5 nominations. This year sees the addition of a new category, “Best Fight Against the System,” a category that deals with videos shining a light on social injustices and more socially conscious ideas. Oddly enough, Kendrick isn’t in this category.

The MTV Video Music Awards will air live from The Forum in Inglewood, California, on August 27 at 8:00 p.m. ET. You can check out the complete list of 2017 MTV Video Music Awards Nominees below.
