A Sequel To Girls Trip Is Already Being Talked About, Says Film Producer Will Packer

Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Regina Hall, and Tiffany Haddish are one ‘Flossy Posse’ that we just couldn’t get enough of and have yet to stop talking about. If you watched Girls Tripthen we’re pretty sure that you understand why we said that, and you should also know that it was, indeed, THE film of summer 2017. The comedic flick grossed over $100 million dollars, worldwide, surpassing the $20 million dollars that it took for the film’s production. Starring an all-star, African-American female cast, Girls Trip showed the importance of true friendships and, most of all, the beauty of solid sisterhood. Though the film had its dramatics, it was certainly filled with much laughter for the soul. Now, it looks like we may be getting a part two.

Directed by Malcolm D. Lee, Girls Trip follows the story of four longtime girlfriends who decide to reconnect by taking a weekend getaway to the infamous Essence Fest, in New Orleans, Louisiana. With old beefs bringing about new ones, friendships and relationships are soon put to test like never before, wild sides are unchained, and good decisions quickly turn bad. However, if you thought that you’d seen the last of the ‘Flossy Posse’, there is a chance that you hadn’t.

In a recent interview with Vulture, Girls Trip producer Will Packer revealed that a sequel to the film had actually been talked about.

“We’re definitely talking about it. The only thing harder than opening a studio comedy today is opening a studio comedy sequel,” Packer said. “That’s the next challenge. I love our team. If anybody can do it, we can do it.”

Though it’s still a little early and the film is still in theaters, Packer said Girls Trip 2.0 is, for sure, a thought. Nothing is concrete, just yet. From what we’ve gathered, at this point, it’s only an idea. But, we’re hoping that, soon enough, a sequel will be on the horizon.

Congrats to the whole cast and team behind Girls Trip on all of the film’s success!
