Is A Young Money Shut Down Coming?!

Lil Wayne is demanding that his Young Money label be properly managed or he will completely shut down the Young Money operation.  Tired of the ongoing situation with Birdman, Wayne is threatening a Young Money shut down as his latest strike against his former Cash Money boss.

According to The Blast and several other sources, Lil Wayne filed court documents demanding that either the judge “appoint a receiver to supervise the operations of the Young Money Label joint venture or order the termination of Young Money Label joint venture and appoint a liquidator.”

This is another episode in the the ongoing feud between Lil Wayne and Birdman, which stems back to 2014. The tension between the two came to light when Wayne voiced his situation of the label holding back his well overdue album, Tha Carter V via Twitter posts.  Back then Wayne also claimed that he had yet to receive the advance money Birdman was supposed to provide to finance for the album.  That was supposed to be $8 million.

Since then Lil Wayne has sued Cash Money and Birdman for $51 Million over money owed. Wayne has even insulted Birdman publicly in numerous occasions.  Earlier this year Rick Ross took shots at Birdman on his “Idols Become Rivals” song featured on his Rather You Than Me album.  Wayne has been unable to release new music because he is still under contract with Cash Money Records.  And when Wayne tried to sign a deal with Tidal for an exclusive partnership, Birdman sued Tidal and Jay-Z for breach of contract/tampering.  The case was dismissed in 2015, but Lil Wayne hasn’t released any new music since.  Even though he teased back in January (2017) that he was prepping 3 new albums for release this year.

Young Money began as a joint venture between Lil Wayne and Cash Money.  Wayne was named the President of Cash Money Records and the label developed the moniker YMCMB.  The label has been home to a lot of talent, including superstars Drake and Nicki Minaj. Wayne feels although he has helped with bringing great talent to his business partner, Birdman, while has been stiffing him financially.  There are reports that Birdman used profits from Young Money sales to pay off long stemming Cash Money Records debts. It safe to say that in this situation they should have kept business and family completely separated.

Birdman has already made it known that Lil Wayne has no right to threaten a Young Money shut down, considering the face that Waybe is still under contract with the company.  Current Cash Money Records artists right now are Jacquees and Young Greatness.  Drake and Nicki Minaj are still signed to Young Money/Cash Money Records.

Regardless of the threats towards Birdman by Lil Wayne, Birdman still views Lil Wayne as his son. A short time ago, Birdman went on a rant via his Instagram where he spoke on the issue and anybody trying to interfere. In the rant he said, “Lil Wayne my son. I raised him. He ain’t had nothing, I brought him to be something, and got something. Bitch, you think I ain’t gonna make sure he straight?”
