Black-ish Actor Anthony Anderson Accused of Misconduct, Denies Allegations
Black-ish phenomenon Anthony Anderson is currently under investigation for allegedly assaulting one of his former employees, The Blast exclusively reveals.
According to the popular news platform, the unidentified “victim” paid a visit to the Hollywood Division of LAPD earlier this year and filed a police report against the 47-year-old actor, detailing the allegations.
Close sources told that the woman was actually first introduced to Anderson while working at an event that he threw. After the initial meeting, it was claimed that she met with him a second time to discuss business-related opportunities, which is when the attack occurred. The nature of the incident, which took place over a year ago, is unclear, but Anderson has since denied all claims.
“It’s unfortunate that anyone can filed a police report, whether it is true or false,” a spokesperson for Anderson said when speaking to The Blast. “The authorities have not contacted Anthony or any of his representatives about this matter. Anthony unequivocally disputes the claim.”
Reportedly, the accuser felt comfortable enough to come forward due in part to the #MeToo initiative–a movement strictly dedicated to encouraging sexual harassment and assault victims to speak up and speak out.
However, this isn’t the first time that Anderson has been tied to misconduct. In 2004, a female extra on the set of his 2005 film, Hustle & Flow, accused him and one of the assistant directors of raping her. It was said that a witness spotted the woman running from one of the trailers naked, but the judge found the “evidence” and testimonies of the story to be suspicious, so the case was eventually dropped.
That same year, Anderson was also sued by another “victim,” who said that he attacked her in his dressing room on the set of his sitcom, All About the Andersons.
The recent claim comes of the heels of the news of Anthony Anderson receiving his fourth consecutive Emmy nomination for his leading role as Andre Johnson in ABC’s Black-ish. He is also set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame later this year, along a number of other talents, such as RuPaul, Taraji P. Henson, Niecy Nash, Shonda Rhimes, Mary J. Blige, and Snoop Dogg, among others.
