People love to receive a personalized gift as it shows that a lot of thought has been put into it, as well as preserving memories and reminding them who bought or made it for them. Personalized gifts sell for an average of 33% more than a plain version of the gift as people are willing to spend more on something that has the personal touch. Not all personalized gifts have to be bought though. Homemade gifts tailored to your loved one also shows you’ve put in a lot of effort and that you care.

Use your loved one’s photos

In the age of social media, it’s easy to get your virtual hands on photos taken by your friends and family or photos of them. Pick out their favorite ones and have them printed onto a mug, a mouse mat or a cushion. According to experts at www.canvaspop.com, framed prints or photos printed onto canvas make thoughtful gifts that people love. Options that usually work well are photos from weddings and holidays or of pets, family or friends that will bring the person happy memories and make them smile. Over 106 million Americans say that they have received personalized gifts that they love.

Engraved gifts

Engraving items can transform them from a standard gift to a thoughtful and unique present that will hold a lot of memories. Most things can be engraved, but some of the best options include wine and beer glasses, jewelry, watches, lighters, pens, keyrings and photo frames with a photograph that you’ve picked out. Engraving is a good option for milestone Birthdays and special occasions that you want to help the person to remember and celebrate, such as for graduation, retirement or wedding days. According to Personalized Creations, personalizing gifts, such as with engraving, makes 56% of  recipients feel that the giver wanted to make them feel special and had put a lot of thought into the gift.

Homemade soaps and baked goods

No gift is more personalized than one that has been handmade at home, tailored to the person’s interests. This can include things like homemade soaps, bubble bars or candles that have your loved ones favorite fragrances, are made into their favorite shape or animal and in their favorite color. Wrapping the gift and including a handwritten note to say what the ingredients are and that you picked each one to suit them will show that you really care and makes a great personalized gift. Cooking and baking is also a good option and is particularly well-received by people who need dietary choices or allergies accommodating for, such as diabetes or a gluten intolerance. Almost everyone enjoys baked goods as a present, such as cookies, cakes, jams and fudges.

Personalized gifts make people feel special. They are more likely to remember who gave them a personalized gift as they will associate a lot of memories and emotions with it, making it very unique and important to them. It also shows that you put thought into the gift because you care about them and wanted them to have something special.
