On October 23, BET premiered a new series from the incomparable Tyler Perry, called, ‘The Oval‘. If Tyler Perry’s recent success with such shows as ‘The Haves and The Have Nots’, ‘For Better or Worse‘ and ‘If Loving You is Wrong’ to name a few is any indicator, then great content and compelling storytelling is what you will get with The Oval on BET as well.

Back in 2017 news broke that Tyler Perry had signed a 5 year, multi-million dollar exclusive partnership with Viacom.  ‘The Oval‘ is one of two new shows that are the first to come out as part of that deal.

The show draws some similarities to that of the path of Barack Obama when in 2008, he was elected as the 44th President of the United States. He alongside his wife, former First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama had to adjust to not only becoming the first black family in history to occupy the White House, but also to help their daughters Sasha and Malia do the same. We know how well that turned out.

What makes the show, ‘The Oval‘ unique is the fact that it takes you inside the inner workings of the first family, not to mention those of the staff inside of the White House, which is fascinating in and of itself.  Also set to appear on the show are Brad Benedict, Ptosha Storey, Javon Johnson and Lodric Collins.

In addition to the aforementioned Tyler Perry, executive producers of the show include Michelle Sneed and Mark E. Swinton.

Tyler Perry also serves as a Writer and Director on the show.
