Getting older is a hard reality we all have to learn to accept because whether we like it or not, it’s happening. Although aging can be a challenging concept to come to terms with, there are ways to cope with this inevitable fate. Taking a healthier lifestyle approach, for instance, can affect the ability to age gracefully over time. To be specific, once you’ve hit your 30s, practicing healthy lifestyle habits becomes all the more important to the natural aging process. This is because your mind and body become increasingly vulnerable when you transition from your 20s to your 30s. Everything from the foods you eat to the amount of sun exposure you get can play a significant role in the aging process, so it’s critical that you follow lifestyle habits that serve to support your wellbeing, rather than damage it.

To help get you started, follow these healthy lifestyle tips for women #Over30!

01.   Stay Physically Active

Keeping your body moving and grooving throughout your 30s is a key component to looking and feeling fresh and fierce over the years. However, setting and sticking to a weekly exercise routine can be much easier said than done, especially when you’re just starting out on your fitness journey. To kickstart this lifestyle habit, consider following the cue-to-reward approach as described within a 2002 case study from New Mexico State University. As explained within the book, The Power of Habits, by Charles Duhigg, NMSU researchers found that individuals who began exercising on a whim roughly three times a week were able to carry out this routine consistently because they established a specific cue and a specific reward. As an example, a cue could be something like working out at the same time every day and your reward could be reading a new chapter in a beloved book you’re reading. Determine what particular cue and reward are self-motivating enough for you and get ready to find your stride!

02.   Add Anti-Aging Cream to Your Regimen

Believe it or not, your body produces less and less collagen after you reach age 25, which as you may have guessed, makes it difficult for you to preserve your youthful glow. Regardless if you’ve noticed any changes in the current state of your skin, you don’t need to wait for fine lines and wrinkles to develop before you start using anti-aging skin care. On the contrary, it’s better to incorporate anti-aging skin care into your current regimen now so that you can stop wrinkles from forming later. Using even one treatment product, such as an anti-aging face cream, can be beneficial in not only preventing developmental signs of aging, but also treating them as well. By adding it into your routine now, you’re more likely to maintain a plump, supple-looking complexion throughout your 30’s and beyond, so don’t wait until it’s too late!

03.   Eat Your Calories, Don’t Drink Them

From tasty fountain drinks to delicious Starbucks coffees, there’s no denying how tempting it can be to indulge in one of your favorite, easy-to-sip beverages. And while there’s nothing wrong with doing so every once in a while, over-indulging in them can wreak havoc on your 30-something body. This is due to the fact that your body does not respond to liquid calories in the same way it does with solid calories as the majority of beverages don’t work to satisfy hunger pangs. In other words, you won’t feel as full from drinking a large chocolate milkshake as you would from eating a protein bar. This means that you’re more likely to reach for something else if you indulge in liquid calories as opposed to solid. Consequently, this can lead to more consumed calories throughout the day and in turn, cause weight gain to occur more quickly. That being said, try to avoid drinking sugary, high-calorie liquids when you can and instead, focus on eating your calories with healthy snacks and well-balanced meals.

04.   Schedule Regular Check-Ups

Even though you should be making a point to check in with your primary care physician on a yearly basis, after you hit 30, it’s a good idea to schedule doctor’s appointments more regularly. Scheduling visitations for annual physicals, routine blood tests, and other preventative screenings are a great way to get some reassurance that your health and wellness is right where it should be. Plus, common illnesses like diabetes, breast cancer, hypertension, and obesity can sometimes occur without any signs or symptoms, which means seeking medical expertise may be the only way to uncover an underlying health concern. Generally speaking, these issues can oftentimes be detected early by a doctor, so it’s essential that you’re taking these precautionary measures to ensure your well-being is in-tact now and in the future.
