[FIRST LOOK] Colin Kaepernick’s ‘Colin In Black and White’ Series Coming To Netflix

Colin Kaepernick is prepping to release a show titled, Colin in Black and White on Netflix. The series is about a young Colin Kaepernick, who is played by newcomer Jaden Michael. It looks at Kaepernick’s life growing up in Turlock, California as an adopted child raised by a white family.  

The 6 episode series premieres on October 29th (at 3:00am EST)Kaepernick is partnering with the talented Ava Duvernay for the series. Duvernay previously released ‘When They See Us‘, which highlighted the Central Park Exonerated 5, wrongly accused of rape.

The other cast members for the series would be Nick Offerman (Colin’s father Rick), Mary Louise Parker (Colin’s mother Teresa), Mace Coronel, Amarr Wooten, and Klarke Pipken. Colin also narrates the series. 

Ava Duvernay spoke to Hollywood Reporter in July about collaboration with Kaepernick and the series. “It’s a deeply collaborative process, not much different than the way I approached the Exonerated Five on When They See Us,” the filmmaker said. We’re working with a nonlinear format. You’ll see as not just a straight story, there’s nonlinearity genre hopping within the piece. All of the conversations and the experimentation were something we did together.”
