Veteran Hip-Hop television and radio personality Darian “Big Tigger” Morgan took to social media to announce that a BET staple was returning in the form of a television special.  Rap City ’21 premiered on October 5th prior to the Hip-Hop Awards.  As of now, the return of the show is a special one night event, but there is always a possibility that this is just the beginning of a reboot for the popular series.

Big Tigger took to Instagram with a post hyping the return of the show.

“This is not a drill… This is not a throwback #RapCity21 ‼️Details soon… #RapCityRaisedMe #ATL.”

Big Tigger will serve as the special’s host and executive producer. The special will include special never before seen footage, exclusive interviews and of course special guests.

BET’s Rap City premiered in 1989 and Big Tigger took over as the host ten years later in 1999, rebranding it as Rap City: Tha Basement.  The show was set in his mama’s basement and became a must stop by place for Hip-Hop artists. Tigger hosted until 2005 and the show was subsequently cancelled in 2008.

This past Summer Tigger brought the same Rap City energy to a new Revolt TV series titled, Off TopOff Top featured video content from today’s hottest artists and music performances, freestyles, and exclusive interviews with legendary rappers and emerging talent. The series, which premiered on July 23rd, was co-hosted by rapper and artist Marlanna “Rapsody” Evans and media personality DJ Nyla Symone.

Rap City ’21 featured interviews and a few freestyles.  Check out the freestyles below:
