Monáe has been a featured guest on Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk and addressed their gender identity. In the first episode of season 5, Janelle Monáe came out as non binary. Further, Monáe addressed their gender identity and says she is not bisexual and Twitter didn’t hesitate to react.
“I just don’t see myself as a woman solely,” Janelle stated on Red Table Talk.
On the show, she said “I feel like God is so much bigger than the ‘he’ or ‘she.’ And if I am from God, I am everything. But I will always, always stand with women. I will always stand with Black women.” She has posted something similar which also proved fans’ claims that Janelle has been a non binary some years back.
God is non binary .

Some of her supporters were however not fazed by the news as back in 2018, Janelle identified as Pansexual. In fact, the Award-winning musician and actor has allegedly given her fans enough hints in the past through a tweet where she wrote #IAmNonbinary. Here’s what folks on Twitter have to say about Janelle Monáe’s confession on Red Table Talk.
I noticed that folks (myself included, at first) have jumped to use they/them pronouns for Janelle Monáe, even though she has never said that’s what she wants.
Good reminder that nonbinary people can use any pronouns.

I want to quote tweet that article about Janelle Monáe coming out as nonbinary with “Janelle MoThey” so bad, but I also know she still uses she/her pronouns and I don’t want to have that explained to me 100 times.
