OutKast’s Big Boi divorced his wife, Sherlita Patton, after 20 years of marriage. TMZ obtained legal documents showing that the court entered the final divorce decree last month after Big Boi filed for the divorce in April. In his filing, Big Boi said there was ‘no reasonable hope of reconciliation’ between the two since they’ve been separated and already lived apart. ‘
Before Big Boi divorced his wife officially, TMZ also reported that “the two agreed to a postnuptial agreement in 2016, in which they divided up their assets and debts, and more recently agreed to a confidential settlement to tie up any loose ends. The exes also agreed to keep details of their finances private.”
According to Daily Mail, “the pair had difficulties in their marriage, with Sherlita filing for divorce back in 2013, demanding financial support and full custody of their children. Big Boi also said Sherlita would not be getting anything without a fight, but they later reconciled.” Although Big Boi divorced his wife, they are both looking to make their separation as peaceful as possible and have agreed not to make threats of ‘injury, maltreating, molesting, harassing, harming, or abusing’.
Big Boi and Sherlita Patton got married in March 2002. They have two children together, a 27-year-old daughter named Jordan, who graduated from Auburn University last year, and a 21-year-old son, Cross, a promising football player at the University of Oregon, according to Hip Hop DX. Big Boi also has another son — 22-year-old Antwan Andre Patton II a.k.a. “Bamboo” from a previous relationship.
While together, the former couple has made their own accomplishments separately. The Daily Mail reported that Sherlita is the co-owner of a clothing boutique in Atlanta, Georgia called PValentine, which was previously featured on an episode of My Super Sweet 16. Big Boi is half of the legendary duo, Outkast, with Andre 3000, and has acted in a series of movies such as ATL and Idlewild.
