Set to hit the streaming platform on July 21st, Rap Sh!t follows two estranged best friends, Shawna and Mia, and their adventure to starting a music duo.
From the highs and lows of sisterhood to the ins and outs of women in Hip-Hop, the millennial comedy is bound to be as raw and relatable as they come.
“I think this is just such a unique time in hip-hop, especially when it comes to female rappers, because there’s such an abundance, and it doesn’t feel like they’re all in competition with each other. I’m a child of the ’90s, and there used to always be a tendency to put two women against one another,” Rae told Harper’s BAZAAR when speaking of the forthcoming project. “It feels like we’re in an era where there’s such a supportive environment now because of that abundance. All of that, combined with just my own story of coming up, became the next story that I wanted to tell.”
The Miami-based show stars writer-producer Aida Osman, who will be taking on the role of Shawna, and rapper KaMillion, who’s portraying Mia.
Rap Sh!t, which derived from the original script for Rae’s Insecure, is co-executive produced by City Girls.
