Akon is not the only music artist making power moves over in Africa.  American rapper and business mogul Shawn Carter, better known as Jay Z, has invested his monies in Ghana, according to comedian Dave Chappelle. Chappelle, who is nestled in Ghana at the moment for a show, disclosed that Jay Z showed him photographs of several houses when he reached out to him to extend respect to his voyage to the Motherland. Olele Salvador, a entertainment journalist, was at an event in Ghana that Chappelle attended name “A conversation with Chance [The Rapper] and a special guest,” which was held on January 5 (Thurs) at the University of Ghana.

Upon hearing Chappelle speak on the matter, Salvador tweeted: “Two big revelations made at the session with Dave Chappelle: 1. Multiple Grammy award winning HipHop rapper, Jay Z has properties in Ghana according to Dave Chappelle. Jay Z show him pictures of the properties when he hit him up to come to Ghana together.” Since January 3 (Tues), Dave Chappelle has been in Ghana and is scheduled to hit the stage on Friday (Jan 6) at the looked-for Black Star Line Festival in Accra at the Black Star Square.

The event is part of engagements underlining the Black Star Line Festival put together by Vic Mensa and Chance The Rapper. Recently while in Ghana, Mensa was credited with bringing clean drinking water to three villages in Ghana, totaling 200,000 natives. “We’re building 3 Boreholes in different communities in Ghana to provide clean drinking water; the first being the Asokore Zongo in Koforidua where my family lives, which is already built,” said Mensa after seeing firsthand the water contamination in the Ghanaian villages. “The other locations are a nearby community called Efiduase and then our ancestral village in the Volta Region Amedzope. Most people in communities like this in Ghana experience constant water borne diseases.”

Aside Ghana, evidently Jay Z is venturing in the Bahamas as well. The Reasonable Doubt rapper just filed paperwork to shift his $2.5 billion suit against Bacardi to their headquarters in the Bahamas. The document reads: “SC is now preparing to bring litigation against Bacardi in Bermuda, where Bacardi is incorporated and headquartered (the ‘Bermuda Action’), for procuring a breach of D’Usse’s Operating Agreement under Bermudian law. In aid of that contemplated case, SC seeks this Court’s assistance to obtain relevant evidence from certain investors in Bacardi and/or its affiliates that are found within this Court’s jurisdiction. SC therefore respectfully requests that this Court approve the application and permit service of the proposed subpoenas seeking documents to aid its anticipated Bermuda Action.”
