Four-time NBA Champion Shaquille O’Neal didn’t become the man he is today by cutting corners — he’s stuck to his guns, maintained grievous discipline, and fulfilled promises he’s made to himself and others. With that in mind, Shaq made a bet recently with Ernie Johnson (his co-host on Inside the NBA) in advance in regards to Monday’s College Football Playoff National Championship game that the University of Georgia (Johnson’s alma mater) would lose to Texas Christian University. The stakes? If he lost, the “What’s Up Doc?” rapper would “eat some frogs.”

The Horned Frogs (the mascots of TCU) were brutally defeated 65-7, which gave the Bulldogs (University of Georgia’s mascots) their second successive College Football Playoff championship. The win was good for Texas Christian University, however, potentially unfit for O’Neal‘s for taste buds and stomach — because the legendary NBA center now had to dine on some frogs. On Thursday’s episode of Inside The NBA, a Georgia helmet donning Johnson came in with a readied saucer of frog legs with “frog leg sauce” on the side.

The former teammate of Penny Hardaway dug in without hesitation, sedately chomping the frog as his co-anchors displayed repulsion. Kenny Smith said, “Now y’all understand why I’m vegetarian. That looks like a real frog. They could have cut it differently so it doesn’t look like the actual animal!” As he dipped the frog legs in the sauce, O’Neal responded, “I’m a man of my word.” With a mouth stuffed with frog legs, Shaq looked up and grinned at the camera.

O’Neal professed, “I just wanna let y’all know, these frog legs good. These are the best frog legs I’ve had ever.” After vehemently plopping the dish cover on the plate when done scarfing down the meal, the big fella addressed his confreres. “You didn’t think I was gonna do it, did you?” It’s been said by many that frog legs taste like chicken, and they’re high in vitamin A, omega-3 fatty acid protein, and potassium—thereby they may actually help lower blood pressure.
