Three hip hop artists in Michigan who went missing weeks ago following a canceled show have turned up dead inside of a Highland Park apartment. Authorities are convinced the three corpses discovered on Thursday (Feb. 2) in an abandoned Detroit apartment are 31-year-old Dante Wicker, 31-year-old Montoya Givens and 27-year-old Armani Kelly. After procuring the cellular data of the three men, detectives saw their mobile devices pinged a cell tower near the sizable uninhabited apartment complex and went to visit the neighborhood. The three upcoming rappers had been missing for roughly two weeks.
According to reports, the three missing Michigan rappers were unearthed in the basement below aging construction equipment and were dead from gun shot wounds. The trio were scheduled to perform on January 21 in Detroit’s east side at Lounge 31 (Gratiot Avenue), however, the concert was purportedly canceled because of an issue with the equipment. Following the cancellation, Armani Kelly told his fiancée he was going to link up with some other folks and attend various open mic events. Though after 7:30 p.m., calls, text messages and Messenger DMs went unanswered.
A 15-year-old was detained by police last week for joyriding Kelly’s 2017 Chevrolet Equinox with a missing license plate. The teen informed the cops that a guy had told him to retrieve the vehicle on Schoolcraft (westside of Detroit), according to reports. Texts and calls led authorities to a man who resides on Ashton (northwest side of Detroit). On Monday (Jan. 30), police took the man into custody for questioning. Thursday about 9 p.m., a forensics unit was sent inside the Highland Park apartment building to start gathering evidence.
The three dead bodies have yet to be identified as the missing Michigan rappers, though Kelly’s mother said she’s been notified about the finding. In an interview prior to the discovery, Kelly’s mother said she already felt her son was deceased. “All I want is someone to tell me where he’s at so we can go home and I can lay him to rest. Deep in my gut and in my soul and in my heart, he’s gone.” The mother of Montoya Givens also spoke out: “They told me they found the three bodies. I don’t know what I’m going to do; how I’m going to bury him.”
