Greco stated: “The implications of our results are significant on many daytime tasks like driving a car or any educational or cultural context that requires learning.”
The team conjectured that eye masks helped slumberers get deep slow-wave sleep (the deepest stage of sleep), which is said to be pertinent for bolstering memory and harvesting new information.
Experts note that eye masks may be especially assistive during summertime when the sun comes up as early as 4 in the morning.
Greco furthered: “As sleep scientists, we understand the importance of getting enough sleep, and waking up at 4 a.m. every day was not ideal.”
